| In 2007 the Monmouthshire
Show Society not only celebrated its 150th anniversary but also moved to
its New Home on the Redbrook Road, Monmouth.
The 2007 Monmouthshire Show was a resounding success, despite the disappointment of having no cattle or sheep due to foot and mouth restrictions. The brave decision of the committee to purchase the new showground was roundly applauded - see SHOW NEWS – and the spectacular scenery of the wye valley and backdrop to the showground was appreciated by all who attended this, the first Monmouthshire show on its new site. The society purchased the
site in June 2004 ensuring the long-term future of the Monmouthshire Show
and the benefits it brings to Monmouth town and the surrounding area.
Much work has already been undertaken to make the showground a magnificent
venue, not only for the Monmouthshire Show, but for other events benefiting
the local community.
Member volunteers have given generously of their time to create this
wonderful new site and a Showground Development Fund has been set up with
the aim of generating income to continue the enhancement of the showground
for the future.
The Chairman and Committee wish to thank the Judges, Stewards and all the voluntary helpers who assist in the organising and running of the Show. |
